Relationships end for a reason and like it or not, its part of reasons not to get back with an ex. We say this especially if you are the dumpee and if you have not done anything that warranted the breakup. If this is you, TBN can assure you that the best cause of action is to move forward.

That is not to say people should not try again after the first romance ends. People are overly dynamic and so time apart my be all that’s needed to decide if a relationship is worth another try. Regardless of the circumstances, getting back with an ex is tricky and so you should be careful.

TBN does not recommend getting back with an ex especially those who treated you badly, gaslighted you and gave a blow to your self-esteem. You might want them back but that’s not love. Its trauma bond and you should focus on healing. That said, here are some reasons not to get back with an ex.

They will leave again: The saying that you should never let someone tell you twice they don’t want you is true. And that’s what you are asking for when you get back with an ex. A breakup is a well-thought-out process and they decided that they don’t want your love and your connection and everything you’ve had together then. If they don’t address their issues, the pattern will play out again.

They came back out of loneliness: one of the major reasons not to get back with an ex is that they don’t come back with the right motivation. They might be lonely after their next relationship fails and they start thinking of how you made them feel important. Don’t be a backup plan. If they leave, shut the door FOREVER.

They believed they can find someone better than you: You don’t want someone who sees you as replaceable. And when they don’t find that person better they come back to you. The downside is if they ever find that person perceived to be better. They will leave again.

They believed you are not worth a fight: Part of reasons not to get back with an ex is that they quit on you. You may not have done anything wrong or even if you did so long it’s not cheating and they refused to work things out, you don’t need them. Relationship takes work and as soon one person stops putting in the effort, it fails.

You need to teach them a lesson: In a world where everyone craves deep connection but sabotages it when it comes, people need to learn not to give up on people who love them unconditionally. This is different from revenge. People must learn the hard way and that is to let them mourn the loss of you forever.
