Shawn Mendes recently announced that he is trying to figure out his sexuality and that he is taking his time to do that. But several social media users believe that it is his coming out as gay and two recent sightings prove it might be true.
The singer had been seen with gay artist Eddie Benjamin twice in a row. The first was shortly after his announcement and on Thursday. Both were spotted having a serious conversation at the beach as if they were on a picnic.

But are they together? Or it a hoax for attention over his upcoming album? Several individuals believe it is the the latter. A poll conducted on Reddit has fans noting that the coming out was just a ruse to drag attention towards his upcoming album.
An insider told TBN, “It’s weird that he is questioning his sexuality and being vocal about the answer when he has a new album coming out. He has an album coming out this month and he is coming out? It all screams coincidence.”

While several people are bashing him for trying to milk the LGBTIQ community, others supported Shawn Mendes. An avid supporter wrote, “It’s kind of unfair cause he didn’t make a public statement on social media or to a publication or anything, he just said it as he was introducing a new song at one of his concerts. Other people are making it more of a thing than it needs to be.”
The question is Shawn Mendes really gay and is he debuting romance with Eddie Benjamin? Or it it a ploy to increase album sales. His latest album is dropping this month.
