The cast members revealed that the movie took five years before they officially started shooting. The first was the covid 19  pandemic which destabilized the economies of the world and claimed many lives as well as the actor’s strike which took place last year summer.

But all together, this allowed the team to deliver the best performance for the most talked about movie this year. Bob Dylan: A Complete Unknown biopic is currently premiering across the US. The first was in Los Angeles and then in New York City.

The success of Timothee Chalamet, Elle Fanning And Monica Barbaro’s A Complete Unknown Biopic is still mesmerizing. And so the three co-stars and their director James Mangold sat down with media outlet The Hollywood Report to share insights on the making of the Biopic.

Recall that the real Bob Dylan publicly lauded Timothee Chalamet for the apt portrayal of him in the biopic. Bob Dylan took to X to write, “Timmy’s a brilliant actor so I’m sure he’s going to be completely believable as me. Or a younger me. Or some other me.”

Now, Timothee Chalamet, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro and director James Mangold sat down with the Hollywood Reporter to discuss the A Complete Unknown biopic. In the cover feature, the co-stars revealed that Elle Fanning was the biggest fan of Bob Dylan.

Elle told THR, “had posters of him on my wall and wrote his name on my hand every day, partly to be cool. When people in junior high would ask me, “Who is that?” I’d be like, “You don’t know?” I worked with Cameron Crowe when I was 13 [2011’s We Bought a Zoo], and he played Bob Dylan a lot. He would play “Buckets of Rain” over and over again. That’s when it started.”

In the A Complete Unknown biopic cover feature, Timothee Chalamet revealed that he had five years to learn how to play the guitar. In his words, “I had five years to learn guitar for A Complete Unknown. Jim found a great guitar teacher named Larry Saltzman, who has worked with other actors like Meryl Streep on Ricki and the Flash. He’s a huge Bob fan.”

It also appeared that the biopic took five years to be made. According to Timothee Chalamet, there were three delays to the biopic. The first was covid 19 which struck in 2020 and the second was the actor’s strike.  But he noted that “Monica probably was the most excited to get another year under her belt prepping Joan.”

Timothee Chalamet further says that A Complete Unknown was the most obsessive and farthest he has stretched himself. It’s the furthest I’ve stretched myself. “And it became so biblical to me in terms of this man’s life and his work that I felt if I let my focus err for a second, I’d be self-loathing about it for years to come. I had three months to play Bob Dylan and the rest of my life I don’t get to be about that, so why not give it my all?”

Finally, the actor revealed he was happy not to have smoked too much because Bob Dylan could smoke up to 80 cigarettes a day. “Puffing heavily on a cigarette, he smokes about 80 a day.” Addin, “Thank God I’m not me.” THR cover feature comes after the premiere of the biopic.
