I am in my early thirties and single so I like to sleep with a lot of pillows, and stuffed animals. I make sure to listen to music every morning while I get ready to work. At night I light a candle and I read like I have someone lying on the floor. My plan is to adopt more of these little habits, that help romanticise life.

My small habits that make life better include lying down in a heated blanket over sofa and cup of coffee, staring out my window on my days off work. I also have a heated mattress pad that I sink into it at night. It relaxes my muscles so much. I also take walks and prioritise hanging out with friends.

I started doing this intuitively. I don’t turn on my big lights when I feel emotionally or mentally exhausted. My body kind of lets me know. I get too overwhelmed even at the thought of big bright light, so smaller warmer ones, or no lights at all makes it better sensory wise and sometimes it even gives me comfort.

My small habits that make life better include journaling and reflecting. I love to journal about my thoughts! i have a separate journal for my everyday life and the things im struggling with lately. i just started it but it is making me start to think more about my thoughts clearly. Writing 5 things I’m thankful about in the morning helps me start the morning with a positive outlook!

I got a membership to my local swimming pool and I am building muscle from swimming. It is also amazing to sit in the hot tub or steam room to relax before bed. I also try to cut down on social media (aside from Reddit), and not listening to sad songs. I’ve found that both augment my negative thoughts and enable me to spiral, so l cut those things out.

My small habits that make life better are related to being in an organised environment. I make my bed every morning. Even if I have a shit day and i come home to a made bed i let out a sigh of relief. It’s probably the most important thing I do for myself next to working out. Little cleaning tasks in my room also help.

I picked up reading again as kind of a new year resolution (just wanted to start a new hobby to lower my screen time) and so far l’ve read 7 books this year. I absolutely love it and found a new way to escape into other worlds. I do this before bed instead of watching TV and even though I do occasionally flip on the TV after reading.
