Former Hollywood couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are set to finalise a divorce in a few weeks after settling. Unlike the rumours of beef surrounding the duo months following their divorce, the couple are maintaining a cordial relationship.
They are now transitioning to friendship and are planning on staying that way. Per Page Six, “They have every intention of continuing to be in each other’s lives despite not being romantically involved,” adding “Ben and Jennifer are still connected and they do communicate when it involves their kids.”
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are extending this friendship towards their divorce, especially in the Settlement. Part of the settlement is that JLo will keep her $5 million 8.5-carat natural green diamond engagement ring which has two trapezoid-shaped white diamonds on its side.
This is good because the Marry Me actress had no plan of returning it considering that it was a gift from Ben. Recall that the couple did forget to sign a prenup because of how much in love they were. That was at least a bad move from JLo who is very much richer than the Accountant actor.
However, the issue of no prenup did not greatly influence the divorce settlement which was concluded on Monday. While the details of the settlement are not publicly known, the divorce settlement shows that it essentially allows both to walk away with their assets acquired before and during the marriage with some minor tweaks.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez will walk away with what they separately earned during the marriage. For instance, Ben’s earnings from his production company partnership with Matt Damon and other projects are his and the same for Lopez and her numerous movies which starred this year.
There was also an agreement on the $61 million house they bought together as their matrimonial home but the terms are confidential. The house has since been listed on the market but has not been bought. Recall that Ben moving out of the house was one of the major clues that their marriage was over.
The divorce settlement further includes that she would drop Affleck as her last name and revert to Jennifer Lyn Lopez. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s divorce settlement was far more amicable considering reports that she was out to deal with him. Per insiders then, “Jlo is out for blood. She wants to deal with Ben so much for making a fool of her and refusing to work on their marriage.”
At the time of the rumours, JLo wanted to work on their marriage but Ben refused vehemently likening being married to her to a temporal insanity.
