Justified? Reasons Justin Baldoni’s $400 Million Lawsuit Mentioned Taylor Swift
There are three common tactical mistakes in history. One is Fighting a land war in Asia, two is Invading Russia in the winter and the third is Picking a fight with Taylor and the Swifties. Justin Baldoni might have just done the third by bringing Taylor Swift into his case. Is this a good idea that she gets mentioned in the lawsuit?
Interestingly several social media users think not. Picking up a fight with Taylor Swift and her Swifties is likened to going against a Sicilian when death is on the line. But yes, the It Ends With Us Director mentioned Taylor Swift in his case and that may be because Blake Lively also mentioned her.
Another reason Justin Baldoni mentioned the popstar was that he claimed the singer and Ryan Reynolds connived with Blake Lively to rewrite the film’s critical rooftop scene where the main characters meet. And had a meeting at Blake and Ryan’s NYC penthouse about the rewrite to ambush him into accepting it.
The It Ends with Us director further stated that Ryan Reynolds was hovering at the beginning singing the praises of Blake’s rewrite, and Taylor Swift also liked Blake’s version of the scene arming him into caving to their needs. The third reason is that Blake lively capitalized on her closeness with powerful people including her bestie Taylor Swift get her way.
Meaning she used their influence to ensure her version ended up in the final cut. However, it is worth noting that Taylor Swift was not part of the plaintiffs, only mentioned. The mentioning is just one text message in which a “Taylor” is mentioned. In the words of the lawsuit, she is referred to as a “megacelebrity friend.”
Reaction to Justin Baldoni mentioning Taylor Swift borders heavily on him employing clout-chasing to bring attention to the case which was deemed a costly mistake. One critic wrote, “Man is getting increasingly brave. I thought going after Disney with legal paperwork and motions was a bad idea, but even Disney doesn’t seem to be that bad compared to…this.”

Another added, “Picking a fight with a person who a court artist once as described as “too beautiful to draw.” Who makes the Lively Reynolds look poor? And surrounds herself with the best lawyers money can buy. And whose testimony has been used as an example of absolutely perfect trial testimony. I would never want to involve Taylor Swift in a lawsuit.”
TBN finds it worth noting that Taylor Swift’s only direct association with the project is that her song is used in the movie. She is thanked in the credits under Blake Lively’s thank yous for the use of her song.
