On Sunday, Serena Williams took the entire world by surprise during Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl Halftime Show Performance with her signature dance. She had reprised the Wimbledon dance which was banned as Kendrick sings the diss song he made for her ex boyfriend Drake.
While Serena Williams did the dance when she won against Sharapova at the 2012 Olympics in Wimbledon, the dance was banned. However the dance has a cultural significance to her considering it was the signature dance of her hometown of Compton, California, where Kendrick grew up.

But it also seems both have mutual reason to show off their move at Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl Halftime Show Performance. That reason is Drake who is feuding with Kendrick and Serena whose relationship with him ended badly. Their relationship was on and off from 2011 to 2015 and she met her husband, Alexis Ohanian around that time as well.
Now, Serena Williams has revealed how she came to be on Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl halftime show performance. Interestingly, the popstar reached out to her because of her crip walk after 2012 Olympics victory. In the Super Bowl halftime behind-the-scenes footage shared to her Instagram account, she revealed how the cameo came to be.
Per her video post, “When @kendricklamar and team called and was like we’ve been trying to do something forever, what about this? We loved your crip walk at the Olympics after you won the gold medal.” “I’m like Super Bowl? Are you serious? When in the world would I ever be able to dance at a superbowl? (Never) let’s do it! I knew my winning dance after the @olympics would pay off one day. End of story.”
The short clip showed her practicing the dance in her trailer before getting her make-up done to watch the show with her family. She watched the game from the stands before returning backstage to change into her blue two-piece look and was taken back to the sidelines, where she did a few practice runs of the dance.
Then she was shown dancing to the song “Not Like Us” at the corner of the spectacle on her very own platform as a camera trained on her. “That was the best 10 seconds of my life! TEN SECONDS!” she exclaimed as she wound down with her team backstage.
