Ade: One thing that helped me beat depression is basking in the sunlight and continuous movement. Sunlight and movement helped a lot but one need to start as small as you need to while being kind to yourself. Writing has also helped me as well as other habits such as getting out of bed, showering, putting on clean clothes even if it’s still pajamas and sitting out in the sun.
Cynthia: One of the thing that helped me is focusing on small, manageable steps and reminding myself that “this too shall pass”. Hillary: When I was depressed I focus more on going outside most days even for a short while and I believe, it yields the biggest improvement. I have found walking in particular to have a stack of benefits. Other things that helped are getting on a regular sleeping schedule and getting quality sleep. Both has a huge impact on how you feel and function.
Regina: For me depression doesn’t have just happen and you can’t focus on how to beat depression when you haven’t figured out why you are depressed. I believe it is important to address psychological root causes with a therapist and do inner work. And then also address the externalities that trigger the episode. Depression is a signal that something in your life is really not working to the point where the person’s life is affected.

Damson: For me, it’s a suggestion that I unfortunately don’t follow enough which is WALK. Get outside if you can and just go for a walk. Do so mindfully. Notice the trees, listen to your footsteps, feel whatever temperature you’re feeling. Nature is beautiful and so walking outside is cool. You can also walk on the treadmill. However, make sure to go for nice, chill, strolls because they are amazing and good for mental health.
Cassandra: I have found out that going to the gym regularly has certainly helped with dopamine boosts. It is like drugs but better and healthier. And so a refreshing one-hour of gym at least three times a week workout will help you get ahead of depression.
